Priorities

Your identity stays sealed. Operators bid on the trip, not on you. We release your name only after you award the flight.

What crossing a border adds

Customs and immigration at both ends, filed in advance as a passenger manifest. Landing permits and overflight permits for the countries on the routing, some of which take working days to issue and do not accelerate for money. A handling agent, which is effectively mandatory at most airports outside the United States and whose fee belongs in your quote rather than on your invoice afterwards.

None of this is difficult when it is planned. All of it is a problem when it is discovered on the day.

Aircraft choice narrows sharply

Manufacturer range figures assume long range cruise, standard reserves and a stated payload. A real crossing carries more people, more bags and worse winds. We treat anything above roughly 80 percent of book range as a sector the operator must confirm against the specific tail number, and on transatlantic and transpacific work that removes most of the market immediately.

The alternative is a technical stop, which is not a failure. Keflavik, Gander, Goose Bay and the Azores exist precisely for this, and a cheaper airframe with a stop frequently beats the largest cabin on total cost.

The return leg is the expensive one

On the North Atlantic the jet stream runs west to east. The eastbound crossing rides it and the westbound return fights it, and the same city pair can differ by an hour or more depending on direction. That hour is fuel, and on a marginal sector it can be the difference between nonstop and a stop.

Our block time figures exclude winds deliberately, because averaging that asymmetry away would be worse than saying nothing. Treat the published figure as a still air baseline and plan the return with margin.

Fields and hours

Not every airport accepts an international arrival. Customs facilities exist at designated fields, and outside published hours an officer may need calling out with notice and a fee. That constraint frequently changes which airport you use, and occasionally adds a stop at a customs field before continuing to the one you wanted.

Confirm customs hours, permit lead times, ramp availability and crew qualification against your specific date rather than in general. The general answer is almost always yes.

Positioning decides most of the number
Why does an international charter cost more than a domestic one of the same distance?

Permits, handling agents, customs coordination, longer crew duty planning and a narrower set of capable aircraft. The flying is the same; the administration is not, and it carries real cost.

How far in advance should I book an international trip?

Longer than domestic. Some landing and overflight permits take working days and cannot be accelerated. Tell us the target date early and we will tell you what the routing actually requires.

Do I still clear customs on a private flight?

Yes, at both ends. It happens at the private terminal rather than a public arrivals hall and usually takes minutes, but the requirement is identical and the manifest is filed in advance.
